The data foundation just became the AI question

AWS Data & AI Day, Bengaluru 2026 — the data foundation just became the AI question

AWS opened Data & AI Day in Bengaluru with a clear argument: enterprise data is no longer there to describe what happened. It is there to let AI systems reason, decide and act. LUMIQ was on the floor with the half of that sentence most vendors leave out.

What the opening session set up

Biswajit Das, Head of India Specialists and AI & Data GTM Leader at AWS India, framed the day around where the enterprise data stack is heading in the agentic era. Three points carried the session.

Data stops describing and starts deciding

Enterprise data is moving beyond recording what happened, toward enabling AI systems to reason, decide and act on it.

The stack has to behave as one continuum

As organisations scale from individual AI use cases to thousands of agents, compute, storage, databases, analytics and AI increasingly need to work as one connected system rather than as separate tools.

Agentic AI raises the bar underneath

Autonomous, always-on systems need reliable, real time and battle-tested infrastructure. Once AI begins acting on business systems rather than only generating answers, the data foundation carries weight it never carried before.

What LUMIQ brought to the floor

LUMIQ works only in financial services and insurance, and has done for thirteen years. What we showed in Bengaluru was the shape that specialisation has taken: two families of AI workforce that are built to run together, with our own engineers embedded until both are in production.

Horizontal — the Data AI Workforce

The work underneath every decision. Agents that ingest sources in whatever shape they arrive, reconcile breaks before anyone downstream reports them, test quality continuously rather than on a monthly cadence, and hold lineage so any number can be walked back to its source.

Vertical — the FSI AI Workforce

The decision itself. Named AI Workers that read the case, apply your manual and issue the outcome with the reasoning attached, inside a mandate you set. Underwriting, claims adjudication, intake and submissions, credit, and investment research, each held by a Worker accountable for the whole workflow.

Human — forward deployed engineers

Our engineers inside your team, writing the mandate with you, grounding it on your manual and your file formats, running the shadow comparison against your own numbers, and handing the dial to your team before they leave.

All of it deployed inside the customer’s own AWS account, single tenant by default, on their keys and their controls.

Where the two line up

The keynote described a direction. It is worth being precise about how closely that direction matches what LUMIQ already builds, because the overlap is not general enthusiasm for agents. It is structural.

From describing to deciding

AWS, on stage: data moves beyond describing what happened, to letting AI systems reason, decide and act.

LUMIQ, on the floor: the FSI AI Workforce issues the decision rather than handing a recommendation back to a person. An assistant makes the person the queue. A co-decider carries the decision inside the policy you set and escalates only the exceptions.

One connected continuum

AWS, on stage: at the scale of thousands of agents, compute, storage, databases, analytics and AI have to work as one connected continuum.

LUMIQ, on the floor: the two workforces are built to run together rather than to be integrated later, with forward deployed engineers across both. Holding the data layer and the decision layer in one place is the point, not a packaging choice.

A higher bar underneath

AWS, on stage: agentic AI raises the bar for the data foundation. Acting on business systems demands more than generating answers.

LUMIQ, on the floor: the Data AI Workforce exists for exactly that bar. Ingest, reconcile, test and trace, held as a standing job rather than a queue of tickets, so the number a decision rests on can be defended on the day it is questioned.

A decision is only as defensible as the data underneath it. Most vendors in this market sell one half of that sentence.

That line predates the event. Hearing AWS describe the same dependency from the stage, in front of this audience, was the most useful forty minutes of the day for us.

The outcome

The conversation in Indian financial services has moved. Two years ago the question at a booth like ours was whether a model could be trusted to read a case at all. In Bengaluru it was what the data underneath the agent looks like, who owns the lineage, and what an examiner sees when the decision is questioned six months later. That is a harder question and a better one, and it is the question LUMIQ is built to answer. If a person decides it today, we can co-decide it, on your own AWS account, with the trail written as the decision is made.
